In a newsletter issued to their members in schools this week Unison has stated that GMB did not ballot members on the local government pay offer.  This is plainly untrue.  In fact, GMB is the only union to have given all members a secret postal ballot on the pay offer, whereas other unions following consultation with their branches went straight to a strike vote.

We wish our Unison colleagues well in their industrial action next week and we will do all we can to support them.  So we don’t need their union making scurrilous comments about the GMB and our members.
