Young Members

Are there young members in your branch?
Are there young workers in your workplace?
Are you 27 and under?

If you can answer yes to any of these questions then you should get involved with the GMB Young Members Section.

The Birmingham and West Midlands Region has a Young Members Committee, which is responsible for the coordination and support of young members' activities within the region.

Young members are encouraged to get involved and their activities concentrate on many different areas, including campaigns against third world sweat shops, summer school, social events and club nights and helping to recruit other young members.

Young Members Conference......

An annual Young Members Conference takes place in November and the Regional and National Young Members Advisory Committees (RYMAC and NYMAC) provide the direct link to young members in the Union. The annual conference aims to get young members' perspective on all issues and members also have the opportunity to attend events around Europe. For more information please contact Amanda Gearing.

GMB gets into Facebook.........

GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region now has it own page on Facebook. The idea is to keep GMB young members in touch with others who face similar issues. Any GMB member under the age of 27 who would like to become a "friend" can search Facebook for GMB young members officer Amanda Gearing. She is easily spotted wearing a GMB T-shirt and is pictured with GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Regional Secretary Joe Morgan and GMB young member Paul Jackson.
