All personal injury claims for members are covered
– accidents at work, industrial diseases, road traffic accidents, street accidents, holiday accidents – you name
it, it’s covered. And family members are covered too for road traffic accidents, street accidents
and holiday accidents. If you run a claim through the GMB, you’ll keep every penny of your compensation
– there are no costs and no deductions.
There are several ways to claim. You can ring our freephone
number – 0808 100 9119 – and register your claim; you can complete a Personal Injury Claim Form (TU56) online or you can ring and ask for a Personal Injury Claim Form (TU56) and we will pop a form in the post
for you to complete and return to the Legal Department at Halesowen Regional Office.
Accidents/Diseases caused by your job If you are unlucky enough to be injured in an accident through
no fault of your own or you are suffering from a disease that has been caused by your work, you are entitled to full
legal representation through your GMB membership. Accident cover is provided to GMB members and their families provided that - The member has contacted the Accident Freephone Number
or completed the Personal Injury Claim Form
- The Regional Secretary is satisfied that legal action should be taken
- The granting of legal assistance is subject to the remaining provision of rule 27 (see GMB Rule Book)

Asbestos

who will help you and your branch officials with employment rights problems but, where the GMB thinks it is necessary, Thompsons’
specialist employment lawyers can be brought into a case to advise and represent you. Very short time limits,
usually only three months, apply to most employment law cases, so always get in touch with your union representative
as soon as any problems arise.
