Birmingham Pride takes place Saturday 28th May & Sunday 29th May 2011. As an official sponsor the Region along with the LGBT and Equality Representatives will be taking part in the parade with our GMB union banners and flags. We would love you to come along and take part in the celebration of the Pride event.

SANDWELL WITH 33.7% OF ITS YOUNG WORKERS JOBLESS TOPS WEST MIDLANDS LEAGUE FOR YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT AND 9 AREAS HAVE 20% OR MORE YOUNG WORKERS WITHOUT JOBS

Sandwell tops the West Midlands league as the area with the highest percentage rate of youth unemployment. In Sandwell 33.7% of the economically active young workers aged 16-24 resident in the area are out of work. It is followed by Wolverhampton (33.1%), Stoke-on-Trent (23.8%), Dudley (22.6%), Coventry (21.9%), Walsall (21.4%), Birmingham (20.9%), Telford and Wrekin (20.7%) and Solihull (20.0%). The figures for all 14 areas in the region are set out in the table below.

7000 SET TO LOSE THEIR JOBS AT BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL

The Birmingham City Council’s announcement of £320 million worth of cuts over four years, with £212m in the first year is devastating. The cuts proposed could set Britain's second largest city back decades, with 7,000 public-sector workers within Birmingham set to lose their jobs because of the drastic cuts to the budget.

School in Solihull has voted in favor of strike action to highlight and protect its students and staff against violent attacks.
