EVESHAM TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYS AGENCY WORKERS AFTER SACKING 150 EMPLOYEES

The GMB continued its campaign outside Evesham Technology today and were amazed to find Agency workers starting work today following the sacking of 150 employees on Friday.

GMB are continuing to support its members within the company and those employees that were dismissed.  Trade Union membership has increased dramatically since the company’s decision to sack over half its workforce on Friday.

Martin Hird, Senior Organiser with the GMB, commented it is an outrage that the company has employed agency workers just days after dismissing employees who are still owed wages and holiday pay, they have received no notice pay or redundancy payment and the company now brings in outside labour to do their work.

Jason Singleton, a GMB member and one of the sacked employees of Evesham Technology, said “I was told last Friday by a colleague within the company of the dismissals.  I had received no information from my Manager; I spent the next few hours trying to find out if I still had a job.  Finally at 7.30 p.m. I was told that I would not be required for work at the factory.  I have been employed by Evesham Technology for 9 years in several key positions, I do not know how or why I was selected and I still haven’t received any money owed to me by the company.”
