GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region

Your Guide to the GMB

The GMB has three sections for members working in particular industries or occupations, Public Services, Commercial Services and Manufacturing.

Sections are serviced by teams of full time Organisers at regional and national level, supported by Researchers at National Office in London.

We provide the following functions on a regional level, to focus on offering a service tailored to the needs of our members in the Birmingham & West Midlands Region.

Education and Health & Safety

The Education and Health & Safety department is based at our Regional Office in Halesowen. The department is the support engine for over 3,000 shop stewards, safety representatives and learner representatives, who assist and represent thousands of our members throughout the Birmingham and West Midland Region. Further
information is available on Health & Safety here and on Education here.

Legal Services

The Legal department is based at the Regional Office and provides a variety of legal services for our members across the region. Further information and contact details can be found on the Legal department page
.

Race Equality

The GMB is committed to promoting racial equality; stamping out racial harassment in the workplace is at the forefront of our agenda. The union has National and Regional Race Advisory Committees, supported by Race Officers. For further information, please contact the Regional Race Officer on 0121 550 4888 or email him.

Equal Rights

The Equal Rights department campaigns on a number of issues, such as equal pay, racial equality and equality at work for lesbian and gay employees. Further information is available on the Equal Rights page.

Young Members

The future of the union depends on today's young members. The GMB focuses on our Young Members, encouraging their development in the world of work. More information is available on the Young Members page.
