BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL DAY OF ACTION HAS BEEN CANCELLED 25th February 2008 Birmingham City Council’s day of action due to take place on Tuesday 26^th February is cancelled and there will be no further action for the next 2 weeks. 4. The GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region has helped its members recover a staggering £4,562,069.91 in personal injury claims this year alone. 9. SCROOGE IS BACK FOR CHRISTMAS 20th December 2007 Asda Store in Hereford forgot to tell workers they will get an hour’s pay deducted if they attended the Christmas Meal 10. GMB HELPS WEST MIDLAND WORKERS RECOVER OVER £2 MILLION IN COMPENSATION FROM JANUARY 2007. 16th August 2007 The GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region has helped its members recover a staggering £2,612,741.42 in personal injury claims this year so far. 17. EVESHAM TECHNOLOGY EMPLOYS AGENCY WORKERS AFTER SACKING 150 EMPLOYEES 8th August 2007 The GMB continued its campaign outside Evesham Technology today and were amazed to find Agency workers starting work today following the sacking of 150 employees on Friday. 18. EVESHAM TECHNOLGY SACK AROUND 150 WORKERS 7th August 2007 Around 150 workers have been sacked from Evesham Technology on Friday 3^rd August without any warnings. 19. JCB WORKERS BALLOTED OVER STRIKE ACTION 22nd June 2007 Nine-hundred workers at JCB's headquarters in Rocester are being balloted on strike action over changes to the way they are paid. 20. GMB MEMBERS REJECT PAY AND GRADING PROPOSAL FROM BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL GMB members overwhelmingly voted to reject Birmingham City Council’s pay and grading proposals last night at one of the first meetings organised by GMB throughout Birmingham. 21. MASS MEETINGS BEING HELD TO CONSULT WITH ITS MEMBERS ON SINGLE STATUS. 27th April 2007 GMB are holding five meetings for Birmingham City Council employees 22. LOCAL MP BACKS WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY 27th April 2007 The workers Memorial Day will be held on the 4^th May 07 at St. Johns Baptist Church, Halesowen where all workers and trade unionists come together. 23. SEVERN TRENT WATER ANNOUNCE 600 WORKERS WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS 4th April 2007 Severn Trent announced that 600 of their workers will face loosing their jobs over the next 5 years which is equivalent to ten per cent of its workforce. 24. TEWKESBURY BOROUGH COUNCIL AGREE TO REMOVE SIDE WASTE 23rd February 2007 At a recent full Council meeting it was agreed that side waste would be banned from July 2007.
