TEWKESBURY BOROUGH COUNCIL AGREE TO REMOVE SIDE WASTE
At a recent full Council meeting it was agreed
that side waste would be banned from July 2007.
From this date refuse collectors will not take side waste that is left. The GMB members are extremely pleased at this
decision, as this has been an issue of major concern over the last three years or so.
The removal of side waste the GMB believes will have a major impact on many of the health and safety issues that our
members have been experiencing such as muscular skeletal disorders and the danger that broken glass and needles have presented
over the years.
Wayne Powell, GMB Organiser, said “I am delighted that this decision has been reached as this
has been a major issue for our member for many years for which the GMB has robustly campaigned on. I would like to thank the GMB members and representatives for their patience and support during this long
and difficult crusade,”
