Help raise money for Riley

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

GMB Representative, Tammy Willetts who works for Swan House Care Home will be shaving her hair off to raise money for Riley who was diagnosed with Dunchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in March 2015.

Dunchenne muscular dystrophy affects between 1 in 3600 boys. Systoms start to appear around the age between 2 and 3, By age 10, braces may be required to aid in walking but most patients are wheelchair dependent by age 12. The average life expectancy for individuals afflicted with DMD is around 25.

Riley is an unaware and very happy active little 5 year old boy but his condition will worsen and he will be unable to do most things.

We would like to send Riley to Disney World Florida while he is strong enough too be able to walk around and enjoy it in full.

Tammy along with GMB members, friends and family of Riley will be doing a sponsored walk on Saturday 10 October 2015 to raise much needed funds to help send Riley to Florida. They will be walking from Toys R Us at Merry Hill to the Duke of Cambridge, Willenhall, which is near to where Riley lives.

Tammy will be shaving her hair off on the 30 October 2015 at The Royal British Legion, Church Road, Short Heath, Willenhall, WS12 5PT. Tammy has organised this fund raising event for anyone to attend who may wish to.

GMB is asking for you to help this little boy have a holiday of a life time before its too late.

You can donate on the Justgiving page, where funds have nearly reached £300. This is not enough, please be generous, donate now!
