GMB, the union for public service workers, call on Tory councillors at Stratford District Council in Warwickshire to pull back from deciding at a meeting on Wed 20th May that allowances for councillors should increase by 8.4%.
Stuart Richards, GMB Regional Organiser, said “At time of austerity and cuts in the public sector it’s unacceptable for councillors to feather their own nest at the expense of public sector workers.
GMB members have lived with pay cuts, pay freezes and below inflation pay awards. It is about time that they were adequately rewarded for their hard work.”
