Support for local homeless charity
Trade union GMB has joined forces with Property Care, the repairs arm of leading housing, care and support provider Midland Heart to support a local homeless charity this Christmas called The Albert Street Project.
The Albert Street Project meet in Birmingham once a week to distribute food and clothing to those who are sleeping rough, whatever the weather. This week they will be giving out blankets and clothing that have been kindly donated by GMB and Midland Heart.
Stuart Harrison, Regional Organiser at GMB said: "This time of the year makes you reflect on your own circumstances but also makes you grateful for what we take for granted, working with Property Care in partnership has helped provide some support to the charity which is very rewarding.”
Greg Lakin, Head of Property Care at Midland Heart added “Our Property Care teams are out and about everyday in the Birmingham area and can see the challenges some people face throughout the year but especially in the winter months. This was an opportunity for us and our suppliers to get involved so we can continue to support the homeless in Birmingham.”
The Albert Street Project meets every Wednesday on Albert Street in Birmingham. For more information or to make a donation visit their website:www.albertstreetpro.co.uk
