“GMB Union recommends new deal for School Support Staff”
GMB Negotiators have announced a breakthrough in negotiations with Education Authority Chiefs in Birmingham City Council.
Lengthy discussions have been taking place between Unions and management following the overwhelming rejection of proposals for Classroom Based Staff earlier this year.
Rob Kelsall, GMB Union Negotiator, said: “We have secured a first class deal for Classroom Based Support Staff here in Birmingham. The GMB is recommending acceptance of the re-negotiated deal which significantly enhances the Pay, Terms & Conditions and Career Structure for our members in Schools”

SPECIAL NEEDS ALLOWANCE RETAINED for ALL SPECIAL SCHOOLS & STAFF WITHIN SPECIALIST UNITS |

RESPONSIBILITY ALLOWANCES OF £500 or £750 p/a INTRODUCED |

FULL TIME STATUS for ALL CURRENT STAFF |
|
PROTECTION for STAFF in AMALGAMATING/RE-ORGANISING SCHOOLS |

NO DETRIMENT IN PENSIONS |
|
HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT SALARIES; OPTION 1 £17,072-£20,190 OPTION 2 £19,185-£22,689 |
GMB will begin balloting members across the City’s Schools from
Monday 10th May. The result of the ballot will be announced Friday May
28th.
