School Admin Staff – Have your say!

Take part in the GMB National Survey of School Administrative Staff

The work of school administrative staff is vital to the provision of a productive learning environment for pupils. This work is expanding both in terms of volume and complexity. Yet pay and grading has not kept pace with the skills and responsibilities staff bring to their jobs. And GMB members tell us they are tired of constant requests for “a bit more goodwill” and a “sense of humour.”

We want school administrative staff to be taken seriously and recognised for the professional contribution they make. That’s why GMB is working to secure proper pay and grading structures, and genuine training and development opportunities for school administrative staff.

Now we need to hear from you…

As part of our campaign, we are conducting this national survey to:

build a better picture of your employment conditions
hear your views on all aspects of your job – good and bad
get an early snapshot of how you have been affected by the fact that teachers can no longer be required to do 24 administrative tasks

Please fill in the questionnaire and ask your GMB Rep or GMB Officer to return it for you by 14 November 2003

The questionnaire has been designed so that it can be completed on-screen if you wish. You can complete it by clicking the relevant boxes and typing in the text fields. Please save the document and email it to us on rob.kelsall@gmb.org.uk or alternatively return it to us at the address provided.

You can download the questionnaire here (MS Word 226KB)
